ජනේලය අසල උදෑසන- ටී.එස්. එලියට්

බිම්මහල් මුළුතැන් ගෙවල
පයට පෑගුණු වීදි අද්දර
ඔවුහු පිඟන් සොලවති හඬින්
පුර දොර අබියස දොම්නසින් දළුලන
මෙහෙකාර ළඳුන්ගේ තෙතබරිත ආත්ම
ගැන දන්නෙමි මම ඉතින්

දුඹුරුවන් මීදුම් රළ
මා වෙතට නැගී එයි
වීදි පත්ලෙන් නැගෙන
විරූපව ගිය මුහුණු
මඩ වැකුණු වතක් හැඳි
කතක හෙලනා කඳුළක්
අවකාශයේ පාවෙන
අරමුණක් නැති සිනාවක්
වහළ මට්ටමට නැග
අතුරුදන් වී යයි

  1. එහෙම කාළයක් ඒ රටවලත් තුබුනා නේද කියාත්, අපේ අය තවමත් වෙන රටවල එසේ යෙදෙනවා නේද කියාත් දුකක් මෙන්ම සතුටක්ද ඇතිවිය.

      කාර්මිකරණයට ලක්වූ බටහිර රටවලට එක්තරා කාලයක පොදු වූ සංසිද්ධියක් තමයි මේ කවියෙන් විස්තර කරන්නේ. දරිද්‍රතාව,පරිසර දූෂණය සහ පොදුවේ මිනිස් සමාජයේ පරිහානිය වැනි කාර්මීකරණයේ ඇතැම් අතුරුඵල මෙහි පද්‍යයෙන් හකුළුවා දක්වා තිබෙනවා. ලෝකයේ සංවර්ධිත සෑම රටක්ම මෙවැනි යුගයක් පසු කළාට කිසිම සැකයක් නැහැ.

  2. Normally his poems are very difficult to translate but you have given an excellent translation.I have read the poem.Highly descriptive words show that you are very talented.       Thank you very much for visiting my blog and leaving an encouraging comment. Yes, Eliot is difficult even to read and understand let alone translating. For example, "Wasteland" is quite impossible to translate due to many a classical allusions and references to other languages apart from English, made in the work. Before this I translated " The Journey of the Magi", which was published in my blog in a previous post.
